In this 4-session series, you'll receive hands-on instruction in instrument technique, rhythmic creativity, structured rhythms, improvisation skills, and playing with a small group. Designed for adult learners at all levels, from beginners to professional musicians—just bring an open mind and a playful spirit and get ready to groove.

Explore: We will begin by exploring the ABCs of hand drumming and percussion, locating the groove, listening, and learning to trust your spontaneous musical impulses and ideas without inhibition.
Expand: You will expand your ability by developing your drum and percussion playing technique by learning to vary your hand positions producing different tones, rhythms, and timbres.
Create: You will learn to create patterns and arrangements by playing with timing, phrasing, tones, dynamics, and rhythmic breaks.
Integrate: As you play, you will combine what you have learned into more complex compositions by integrating spontaneity and structure, building your confidence, skill, and rhythmic vocabulary.
Collaborate: By combining individual patterns into layered group rhythms, you will explore composition and arrangement while collaborating in a dynamic group music-making experience.

🚀 4 Progressive Weekly Sessions for Adult Learners (Ages 16+). Each 90-minute session builds upon the previous one. Participants should attend all the sessions.
👐 Bring Your Own Drum or Borrow One of Ours. A high-quality hand drum is required. We have a limited number available for borrowing, or you can rent/purchase one from the studio or another local retailer.

⏰ Session Times: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM (extended session on the last day)
🌍 Location: RL Drum Studio, Grand Junction, CO. A state-of-the-art percussion studio and the perfect environment for learning and playing.
Your Guide
You’ll receive hands-on instruction in playing techniques, rhythm, and group collaboration from master drum and percussion teacher Rob Labig. An expert drummer and percussion artist, Rob has taught hundreds of private students of ALL AGES, in addition to conducting clinics and workshops, and coaching ensembles.

Individual Rate: $145 with early enrollment (before May 1) • $165 after May 1.
Bring a Buddy: $200 for 2 players with early enrollment (before May 1) • $220 after May 12.
