Scheduling and Payment Policies
Cancellation Policy:
Students who cancel a lesson for any reason will still need to pay full tuition
Lessons may be rescheduled by Rob Labig, the student, or the student's parent/responsible party by requesting that the lesson be rescheduled a minimum of 24 hours prior to the time and date of the scheduled lesson
Full payment is owed even if all the scheduled lessons are not fulfilled in that same calendar month due to rescheduling
Lessons that are canceled on the same day as the lesson was scheduled to take place are not rescheduled. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of Rob Labig
Students who are in a monthly lesson payment arrangement and give notice that they will not be attending a full month will then be prorated at the single lesson rate. A minimum of 2 weeks' notice is required before canceling or pausing a monthly lesson arrangement
Studio Schedule:
Rob teaches 48 weeks out of the year, and the studio is closed for a total of 4 weeks each year
The rates for monthly lessons do not change if there is a month with fewer lessons. For example, if there is a month with 5 weeks/lessons, there will be another month with only 3
During a 6-month period of time, you/your student will receive 24 lessons total
If a major holiday occurs during a week that Rob is teaching, students who have lessons on that holiday will likely be rescheduled
Student Expectations
Student Success Requirements:
Students are expected to practice daily and keep a practice log. This is essential in order to have productive lessons
All students will agree to regular practice outside of lesson times
Parents agree to support the student's practice and also to provide supplies, equipment, and a physical setting that supports the student's practice
Opportunities:
There will be a student recital, usually occurring in February after the Solo & Ensemble Festival. All students are strongly encouraged to participate
Clinics, group lessons for drum set, hand drums, and percussion may be scheduled periodically for students who desire to expand their proficiency in a specific area or technique and add ensemble playing skills

For students participating in online lessons:

Students consent to video/audio transmission for educational purposes
International students acknowledge lessons are governed by Colorado/US law

California Online Privacy Protection Act
CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. It's also important to note that we do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.
We provide services to students of all ages, including children under the age of 13, as well as persons of all ages up to 100+. We do not collect information FROM children under 13 directly. Parents can review, delete, manage or refuse with whom their child's information is shared through contacting us directly
Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
To be in line with Fair Information Practices, we will take the following responsive action should a data breach occur:
We will notify the users via email within 1 business day
We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
